Milestone after milestone!

Our little band of merry ridgebacks continue to develop at an accelerated rate. As of two days ago, they have top teeth, with bottom teeth on the way. The have increased their whelping from 2 saucers of chicken broth per day to eating together out of a trough, with all the rivalry and learning process that entails!

We started putting them in the summerhouse playroom, in the gym, during the day, since yesterday. It’s a large area for them to explore and learn to toilet train, since they are now aware of the need to urinate and defecate. Today, we ventured into giving them high quality dog kibble, soaked into a mushy puree and fed them out of two troughs. Well, it was an instant success! They were fully enamoured with this step and ate the lot in record time! The clean up process was a bit hectic but, we got them back to rest on their nice soft bedding in the summerhouse playroom and they all fell asleep within minutes! They love to crawl all over us if we stretch out alongside them and fall asleep if you have a blanket covering your legs. Quite adorable!

Poppy is less enamoured with feeding them now so, we are helping by feeding the pups for her and she can rest and give them some milk morning and night. She’s still producing a lot of milk but, this should soon dwindle as the pups become more and more independent of her.
